After my daughter and her friend finished their poster project, their collection of ideas was used as a base for me to present coaching notes from my own experience.

My personal mission is to build a comprehensive teaching tool for playing basketball.

First Standard

If any subject within  sounds religious, I submit to what our Mother the Holy Roman Catholic Church holds. See link to current Catechism below. That held in the time of St. John of the Cross. (16th century 1541-1591) Council of Trent Inquisition

If there should be anything contrary to that it will be due to my not understanding the matter.

The example here is a rough sketch from the old days.

Symbols used will be interchangeable in the 50 or so rough plans collected.

Look for “Rules 5” in the blue book to get started.

Sequence of play for the teaching of basketball. The basic graphic symbols are shown on the right half of this paper printout.

Put graphic standards here. (ed. note xxx graphics presentation becomes more sophisticated)

We need to design and build standards of appearance for the lines and circles that make up the artwork for our playbook.

The master play book (MPB) is a 12 division plastic-paged catalog rack, like the ones in auto parts stores. It has all non-text originals in alphabetic order. The pages in the MPB have been labeled and scanned.

There is a collection of other documents and duplicate documents files in some blue hanging file folders also in the 1CB archives. One file is labeled “Rules”. The other is labeled Stats.”

If this writing is close to publication, these first lines will have been so altered that they won’t be here anymore. If you are reading this now, it may be for one of the following reasons:

1. You have volunteered to help.

2. You have requested an explanation of what is meant by the “First Church of Basketball”

3. You have found a copy that was misplaced

4. My family is sorting through my old writings because my funeral has occurred.

5. You have been invited to participate in a writing project that needs feedback from children.

Child discovers hoard of old notes

Photo removed: 9 stacks on the old table

Ed.note: (maybe) Move the next section up, ahead of everything. Voice of the narration is shifted to a grandchild discovering a grandfather’s old basketball notes, similar to the following,

“When my mom was in High School, she and a friend photocopied the notes and instructions of several different basketball coaches. Significant statements were clipped out and pasted to a large paper poster. Each significant thought on playing basketball was placed near similar ideas by each of the other coaches. The plan was to rewrite the known teachings into one grand plan for use as the curriculum for a school of basketball. The posters were a checklist so that nothing significant would be overlooked.”

After introducing the mom’s project, the child mentions how her grandfather’s notes are to follow, pretty much intact. Never published; put aside.
